HiI am visiting Brisbane...

Hi
I am visiting Brisbane and Melbourne in August on a Travel Award - the aim is to visit schools and talk to leaders about best practice for Visible learning and implementing whole school change around pedagogy. I would really like some recommendations from this community about the best people and schools to contact.

Data response 2

The meta-analyses present a global perspective on what are and what are not key influences on achievement. The data is based on many millions of students from around the world. For further detail on these please refer to the meta-analyses in Appendix A for the research overview.

Data response 1

The data used about teacher credibility, teacher-student relations, feedback and other factors of influence in John Hattie’s research is a culmination of 800+ meta-analyses where the underlying studies have been converted to a common measure (effect size). The underlying studies (over 50000+) have used a variety of methods which include qualitative methods.

Hello from Hodge Hill...

Hello from Hodge Hill Primary School in Birmingham, UK. We have had an exciting Visible Learning journey so far and would be interested in sharing experiences with schools in the UK and around the world. We are currently focusing on developing effective feedback - would love to hear how others have developed this strand.

Our school's VL Plus Journey

Hello all. I have just joined this community and am eager to share with schools around the world our respective Visible Learning school journeys. I am head teacher of Bader Primary School in the UK. We are working with Osiris Educational, looking to implement John Hattie's brilliant learning + principles. I have started a blog and I am hoping that professionals from around the world might pay us a visit and comment

Hello Again! Two more...

Hello Again! Two more questions: Visible learning research data analysis: is it only based on data from Australien? If not, which other countries are involved as source of data in Mr Hattie's analysis? Thanks again. Yours sincerely Bernadett

Hello! I Would like to know...

Hello! I Would like to know how did Mr Hattie and his team collect data about teacher credibility, teacher-student relations, feedback and other factors of influence in his research? Did they use qualitative methods, (interview, questionaires video observations)? Thanks in advance Kind regards, Bernadett

Can the simple effect size...

Can the simple effect size formula (avg post - avg pre)/(avg of stdev) be used when comparing standardized tests given annually (given that they are very similar)? Or what about for ones given a few times per year, like NWEA MAPs benchmark tests? When I try to use these tests I get very low effect sizes. Any advice?

The last word lies in the ‘big & small voices’ of our learners: how can we take those voices and help build better outcomes for our learners?

You will find here the presentations from the recent Visible Learningplus summit, covering a variety of ideas on how Visible Learning practices are bought to life. Have you had similar experiences in your environment? Do you agree with the practices that others are currently taking?
